EUROPE ENDLESS 1−3
A trilogy...
↗ The trilogy of films…that links biography, political history, and cinematic memory. It's about the idea of Europe.
The Spectre of Eurocommunism, about the utopias of 1970s communism. (Now streaming on The Criterion Channel in the US)
Infinite Histories, about the collapse of the Eastern Bloc. Look! We Have Come Through! about the future of participation and solidarity.
A visual hymn to a constantly changing Europe – fragile, unfinished and still to be imagined.
CAROSSELLO
A Taiwanese, Romanian, Chinese, Italian, German collaboration
with John Lin, Lidia Rățoi, Davide Spina, Kaiho Yu
Carossello, a rotating peep show, mimicks the looping life cycles of Chinese traditional houses. And their transformations.
The diorama is inspired by Bernard Rudofsky's 1964 exhibition 'Architecture without Architects'. It celebrates anonymous, vernacular,
and non-professional approaches to the design. Traditional Chinese underground houses that adapt to the seasons. To climate.
And to the rhythms of everyday life. 'Carossello' is named after the Italian TV program, which from 1957 to 1977 spun together vernacular
culture and visual spectacle. As both a tribute and a challenge, it is about what and who defines how we live together. ↗ UNLIKELY GUIDE

as a constantly moving target. The opening will feature a reading by Lukas Kubina from his novel 'Boludo',
followed by a concert by Macedoniasintetica (Carlo Camerin, Mattia Rigon, Simone Carraro)
and a screening of 'Metagoon 24h' by Matteo Stocco and Matteo Primiterra.

The slightly longer original version of the film, which won an award at the 2002 Berlinale, has been rescanned by Rapid Eye Movies in Cologne and will be shown in selected cinemas in Germany in summer 2024. Soon also available to stream.
"Provocative, highly watchable and challenging in how it considers radical iconography and the individual's responsibility to history, this is a significant work reflecting, 30 years on, the still debated key political period." ↗ GE, Time Out Film Guide
SO LONG DADDY, SEE YOU IN HELL made with Jeanne Tremsal, 2022 starring Jana McKinnon, Clemens Schick, Leo Altaras, Hanns Zischler
“Teenage rebels confront the sexually abusive leader of a cult-like commune in German director Christopher Roth's timely, engrossing, based-on-reality drama." ↗ Stephen Dalton, The Verdict
“…every cut brings drama, romance, rebellion and pathos to the forefront. It switches from German to French, although the change of tongue does not alter the film’s accessibility. And such is the way it’s filmed, the horror washes over the viewer, bringing them back to the realm of plausibility, exhibiting terror, trial and love. Because, much as it does in real life, love conquers all. Servus Papa, See You In Hell is a triumph of cinematic storytelling.” ↗ Eoghan Lyng, DMovies

2038 IN HONGKONG, BEIJING, SHANGHAI
Today, in the year 2038, we have mastered the great crises. It was close, but we made it. Drama is now history. Our planet doesn’t know or need heroes or villains. On 22 March, contemporary witnesses from the year 2038 will report on how we achieved this. Not just on film, BUT, at the Goethe-Instituts in Shanghai and Beijing, you can experience live the 2037 Pritzker Prize winner Lidia Ratoi, the mayor of Shanghai Rujun Jia, the chief planners of Beijing Liu Chang & Nagaoka Taketo, and the host Christopher Roth. ↗ 2038.xyz(A sequel to the German Pavilion at the 17th Biennale di Venezia, 2021)
